This is a hint and patch file for the "XGIRL" (X-GIRL, XGIRLWIN) adult
Windows Japanese anime game from Red-Zone and IDES'.

WARNING: If bondage and torture turn you off, avoid this game!

The game is distributed as 3 ZIP or RAR files, each equivalent to one
1.44 floppy. According to the NFO file (this game was apparently cracked
and distributed by the RTN (REVOLUTiON) group), this is a sexy adventure
(AVG) game that requires a Pentium 90, 8 MB RAM, 20 MB HD space, Win 95,
comes on 3 disks. They gave it a 7 out of 10 rating.

The game needs NJWIN or something similar to display the Japanese text. My
copy of NJWIN 1.2.15 had problems with the on-screen text, and kept showing
left brackets ([) all the time. Sound and music support is automatic.
Graphics are 640*400 256-colors. Keyboard and mouse supported, but only
mouse used to play game. Right-click to speed up text display during the
introduction, and bring up localized option menu (when there is no text in
bottom box). The game may crash your system if you change the graphics
resolution while playing. The 20 MB is exaggerated, it's less than 9 if you
clean out all the excess files once the game is installed.

Phillipe (my source) had this to say: It's XGIRL and it runs under WIN/V.
Try to beat it! It is rather hard to understand! You have to click
everywhere on certain scenes and if you don't know that the right
button of your mouse opens a menu of possible actions, you can click
for a very long time!

Run the XGIRL.EXE file in a temporary (empty) directory, then the
XGIRLDLL.EXE file as well. Don't overwrite the README.TXT file - the one in
the DLL file just says to copy all the DLLs to your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM
directory. I'm not sure about the WINNLS.DLL file, because its labeled as
being from TwinBridge, and I have a Microsoft one there already. I'd suggest
that if you have a WINNLS.DLL already, don't use this one unless the game
refuses to run. Also, all of these files except TBIMM.DLL are in the
XGIRLWIN directory already. When I removed TBIMM.DLL, the game still ran the
photoshop normally, so you may be able to get away with not installing any
of the DLL files in your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. A good thing too! I've
already got 723 files there... TBIMM.DLL appears to be used by the
TwinBridge system, so in my case with the Microsoft WINNLS it isn't even
called. I didn't need to run SETUP or WINSTALL either, but you may want to
look at the INSTALL.BMP file - it isn't for this game.

The text files that come with the game say something about a CD-ROM, both
Windows 3.1 and 95, 256 colors, and mention the ADM.DLL and WINSTALL.EXE
files. If somebody can translate the README.TXT to find anything I missed,
please let me know what it says. Because you don't have the proper disc for
this game, you get no music, and a lot of popup error messages during play.

Run ADVWIN.EXE to play the game. There are two window options always
available while playing: Exit (left side) and About (right side). After the
opening screen and sound, you get a menu with 5, 6, or 7 options:
Start new game (long intro)
Load saved game (1 to 5, cancel)
Change names? (red select box doesn't match my font size)
Music jukebox (requires CD-ROM, bottom option to return)
[if enabled]Show introduction
[if enabled]Photoshop (CG)
Exit game (slower than by Alt-x though)

Appears to be a "Cyber Punk Adventure" with a lesbian dominatrix (yes, you
in this game) summoned and asked to do something by an albino girl and a
general. Left-click on things in the scenes to get text, especially people's
faces. When you run out of new things, right click to get a menu when there
is no text being displayed below. If you haven't clicked on everything, no
menu will appear. Since you don't have the correct CD-ROM for this game, put
up with pop-up error messages. The "show introduction" option appears on the
initial menu only after you have seen the introduction once. Something in
the FLAG9 file turns this on.

You can only save your game (right-click, top option, slot 1 to 5 uses
files FLAG0 to FLAG4) when in "your" room - two blue chairs, large windows
with red curtains.

Occasionally you will go into a "combat" mode with a green screen and a red
display in the bottom left corner. You need to hit (click on several secret
spots on) your opponent several times before the numbers count down. The
first 4 girls you get as above. You get the blonde in the white dress
without combat. But you have to hit all the girls once to get the last one
(no green screen).

Once you capture these girls, you get to torture them. Click on the large
cabinet in "your" room to get access to them via a menu. The menu shows one
entry for each girl captured but not tortured (into giving you information?)
yet, plus the bottom one to cancel. If you choose a girl, the game goes into
a completely different mode. The large vertical panel can be moved left or
right by clicking on the top arrows. The other items are sex or torture
tools. Select one, then click it on your victim. Enough abuse and the scene
changes.

What worked for me was using one whip until I stopped getting new marks,
then using the other until I got one new mark, then using the "special"
device that should have been enabled by then. Use that (the clips and the
needles are used in at least 4 locations), then use either whip again until
you get one more new mark. Click on the girl's face before you use
something else.

There are two different endings to the game. When you torture the albino
girl, you get a menu with two options in the upper left corner of the
screen. The top option is the good ending (a girl shoots the guy at the
desk, you shoot the general, a building blows up, you and the albino get on
a plane), the bottom option is the bad ending (you have sex with the general
but end up imprisoned with the other 7 girls). After you reach either of the
endings, you have to sit through a long credits sequence.

The photoshop has menu entries for each of the 7 girls, plus one for all the
girls in sequence, plus exit. Left click to advance, right click to exit.
Unfortunately, all the photoshop shows is the torture sequences, and not any
of the other sexy pictures.

The photoshop flag is somewhere in the file FLAG9, as is the "introduction
seen" flag. The easiest way to get everything set up correctly is to start
up the game once, watch the introduction through, then exit the game once
you see the room with the two blue chairs. This will have set up the FLAG9
file properly, and set the "introduction seen" flag. Now use your binary
file editor (hex editor) on file FLAG9, and change $7C from $00 to $80. Save
and check your work - there should now be 7 options on the main menu, and
the 6th one is the photoshop.

If you have anything to add to this file, or would like to trade other adult
anime games, let me know.
